0 Dark Thirty Blend From Coffee Bean Direct Coffee Roasters

When it comes to coffee blends, I find something very special about them. Sure, a lot coffee blends take weeks, months, even years to make, but most importantly coffee blends are the works of people, and their heart and soul that goes into making these blends. Now, that’s what makes them special.Marcie from Coffee Bean Direct Coffee Roasters contacted me about reviewing one of their coffees. If you’ve ever been to their website they offer green beans as well as roasted. I was very excited to try something they roasted up. She told me that they had a new blend they were working on and would like me to try. I was even more excited, but mostly I felt very honored to be the one revealing this new coffee.
When the package came, I opened it up to find 0 Dark Thirty.
A little background about 0 Dark Thirty:
Our tribute to our uniformed service members, past and present. This isn’t Mess Hall Java or MRE powder just to keep you going, but the result of a 23-year quest by a retired Air Force Master Sergeant that has culminated in a blend using our premium coffees, his taste and ideas, plus the vital constructive critiscm of his brother.
This coffee blend is very rich and extremely smooth with creamy chocolate undertones and hints of spiced melon. It has a lengthy lingering aftertaste and a pleasantly tingling sensation of slightly astringent sweetness which stimulates the salivary glands. Try sipping this coffee between bites of your favorite apple or pear. If your tongue doesn’t try to slap your brains out, there is something very wrong with your tongue. You don’t have to wear the uniform to enjoy it; you, too, may also deserve a rich reward for the work well done.
The smell that came off the beans was just plain awesome. It was a dark roast that smelled like chocolate heaven. I couldn’t detect any smokiness. I was greeted with a smooth chocolate aroma.
After brewing a cup, a slight smokiness appeared. There’s a really smooth aroma with hints of a chocolate note. There is definitely something that’s drawing me into this coffee. It may not seem like much is going on in the aroma, but you just have to smell it to understand what I mean.
The taste is beyond good. A smooth rich body followed by a dark chocolate note, and hints of fruit. I noticed bits of spice to the coffee that’s popping out at me. The fruit note might be the melon they mentioned.
The aftertaste is quite pleasing. I do notice hints of smokiness lingering here and there, but mostly there is this dark chocolate note lingering around.
This has to be one of the best dark roasts I’ve had in awhile. I’ve had some amazing coffee recently, but this just blows the others away.
I am giving this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.
