Brazil Condado Peaberry From Kuma Coffee Review

I found out about Kuma Coffee through Twitter. I had been following them for a while, but it wasn’t until recently I decided to check out their coffee.I ordered up the Brazil Condado Peaberry which was hard to choose from all the other great sounding coffees they offered. A day or so after my order was placed, Mark Barany, owner of Kuma Coffee started chatting me up on Facebook. We got into how I heard about them, favorite coffees, and the KONE filter. After a nice coffee chat, he told me he was sending me out an extra bag of coffee. Thanks Mark.
Brazil Condado Peaberry is said to carry
Pineapple acidity, salted caramel, & walnut
After I got this brewing, I noticed the aroma was very mellow sweetness. It kind of smells like caramel. I am also getting some slight nuttiness in there.
At first sip, the coffee carries some mellow acidity. It’s enough to wake up your tongue, but to where it’s not overpowering. I do notice a fruity note, but I can’t tell what it tastes like. It doesn’t taste like pineapple. There’s a caramel like sweetness that lingers on my tongue for a bit. Overall, the coffee has a dry feeling on your tongue.
After awhile you really started to notice a saltiness to the coffee. I noticed it before, but it was one of those notes I really wasn’t sure I was actually tasting. It’s different, but it’s not bad either.
As the coffee cools, the fruity note gets brighter, but it’s still driving me crazy because I can’t tell what it is.
Overall, great coffee. I like that it’s more on the subtle side, but still carries a good amount of flavor. It’s also opened my eyes to some of the unusual notes like the salted caramel I tasted. I honestly would have avoided this coffee if I knew I’d be tasting salt in my coffee.
I’d give this a 3.75 out of 5 cups.
