Chesapeake Bay Blend From Mahogany Roasters Review

  • I’ve been winning coffee quite a bit lately. I guess I have a lucky streak going on here. The coffee I won was from a contest ROASTe was hosting. The coffee is Chesapeake Bay Blend from Mahogany Roasters.

The name Chesapeake Bay Blend has me thinking of a smooth and mellow coffee. Let’s see what this coffee has to offer.

    From their website:

Rich and smooth, this delicious blend is perfect for mornings. Full bodied, aromatic and delicious.

At first, this coffee caught me off guard with the dark and oily beans. I read this was a Medium Roast, but this was looking more like a dark roast, and the aroma coming off the beans were starting to back up my assumptions.

Be warned though, this is a definite Medium roast.

A darker roast aroma filled the kitchen while brewing in my French Press. The smell was rich, with a dark chocolate note underneath. I was still hesitant about the coffee.

When I took my first sip, I noticed a heavier body that the coffee had.

A dark chocolate note started dominating the coffee at first, but then a nuttiness started to appear. I was even starting to notice a pepper note that came out of nowhere.

This coffee has a good aftertaste. I can still taste this dark chocolate note with a slight smokiness.

Overall, this coffee was a little more on the mellow side than the aroma led me on to believe, but it was by no means a bad coffee. Before I knew it my cup was empty, and I was searching for more.

    I’m giving this a 4.25 out of 5 cups.

You can grab a 1lb. of this for $10 plus shipping.
