Coffee Methods, Coffee Books, Coffee Reviews Oh My!!

  • I hope everyone had a great Christmas and got everything they asked for. I am a little slow on posting right now because I am still waiting for my coffee beans to arrive. 3 more days and the wait is over. I am now equipped with my own stove top popcorn popper with hand crank and am set to test this method out.

I also have been reading “Home Coffee Roasting, Revised, Updated Edition: Romance and Revival” by Kenneth Davids which by the way is a great book for anyone interested in roasting their own coffee, the many different methods, and so on. I hope to have it all read before my beans arrive so I feel better acquainted with coffee roasting.

I also recently received some new coffee from GoCoffeeGo which is a very interesting site with slightly lower prices than the actual roasters site with a wide variety of different coffee’s from different companies
I ordered Amaro Gayo Sun-Dried by Novo Coffee. This coffee tasted nothing like the notes they said on the site, but of course your palate detects notes that some people may not. Instead I was greeted with a more earthy flavor than fruity. The fact that I got the coffee 9 days after it was roasted most likely had something to do with it, but all in all I wasn’t too disappointed and plan to try this coffee again in hopes that the second time around is even better.

As for a rating I think I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 cups because it was still good, just took awhile to get here.

Sorry, to hear about the rough experience. My experience with Go Coffee Go was definitely a lot better, maybe it was the different roaster. I don’t remember exactly how long it took, but it was within three business days and they were roasted the day they were sent.

I ordered from Novo, but it’s all good because I am not writing them off. I ordered from GoCoffeeGo again and so far its saying 7 days until it gets here, but we will see.
