Coffee Review: Brazil Cerrado From Buddy Brew

  • At the Blogger’s Briefing we got to watch some coffee being roasted up. Dave Ward (Owner) roasted some Brazil Cerrado for all of us bloggers to take home.

For two days it was hard to keep myself from opening the bag, but once it was time to open it I realized it was well worth the wait.

The beans carried a chocolaty aroma when you opened up the bag. Even when you ground the beans you can detect the chocolate which was very pronounced.

Once the coffee started brewing, I could smell the chocolate/nutty notes coming up from the french press. I had tried some of this coffee at the event and loved it. I wanted to see what it tasted like in the french press, and also as a pour over.

The french press carries a very pleasing, but pronounced chocolate note. There’s a nutty note undertone that’s really pleasing. The chocolate note starts of light and then gets heavier like a dark chocolate. Overall, I would say this is coffee carries a medium body in the french press.

When I did the pour over I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. I’ve been messing the pour over’s up quite a bit since I can never get the bean/water ratio right, but the other night I hit the jackpot for my taste buds.

Unfortunately, I did not have my scale with me so I don’t know how much coffee I used, but I know it was on the stronger side. The coffee had a very pronounced deep chocolate note. More like a dark chocolate note with a mellow nuttiness behind it. Overall, I was really liking the pour over a little better than the french press.

Overall, the coffee did very well in both, and the coffee itself was just so delicious.

Buddy Brew only deals in Specialty Coffee which means they only get the best of the best beans so you can be sure to find some amazing coffees from them.

I am giving this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.

You can grab yourself a 12oz bag of this for $12 plus shipping.
