Cold Brew Coffee Series: Oddly Correct’s Hop! Toddy

  • Oddly Correct

This is where things get odd. Introducing, Hop! Toddy from Oddly Correct. This cold brew is different from the ones I’ve been tasting lately. This one contains a nice helping of cascade hops. Are you still with me? Okay, good!

A few weeks ago I saw someone post a picture of a cold brew that Oddly Correct was offering. What intrigued me was that it wasn’t just the everyday cold brew you see. Instead, it was a cold brew not only using the Toddy system, which no one seems to really use to make cold brew, but also a cold brew infused with hops. Hops, you say? That doesn’t sound very good. It sounded very odd, but it wasn’t odd enough for me to not want to get my hands on some. The folks at Oddly Correct were nice enough to send me two bottles.

When the bottles arrived I didn’t know what to expect. For once, I had no expectations of what this cold brew infused with very generous amount of hops would taste like.

    Thoughts
The aroma is light, crisp, and very refreshing smelling. When you first take the initial sniff, you are greeted with this brightness that at first I wanted to describe as sour, but letting my nose adjust I found that it’s in fact bright, but underneath very floral with a generous amount of citrus.

It took me a moment, but I soon realized I was getting some orange on the nose along with raspberries, and for the floral side maybe some jasmine.

The taste is an adjustment for someone who doesn’t drink. I’ve had beer before and never liked it, but I know what it tastes like to know what I am tasting here. The hops is at first a shock to my tongue. The first sip begins like any other cold brew… Bright, refreshing, and them BAM! you’re tongue is greeted with a tangy sensation. It’s bright, very tangy, although juicy, and very floral-like. I am finding this cold brew to be more and more intriguing with each passing sip.

Aside from tasting hops with each initial sip, I am finding a nice orange play, raspberries, cocoa, and lots of floral play.

Full bodied, sweet, and cocoa-y. We’ve added a healthy helping of cascade hops to give this cold brew a citrusy, aromatic finish. Ultra refreshing! ~ Oddly Correct

    Verdict
If you are like me and doesn’t drink, this cold brew might come as a shock to your tastebuds, but once they adjust to all the flavors I hope you’ll agree that this is some serious goodness right here!

I am very impressed. I didn’t think this would turn out as wonderful tasting as it did. The hops brightens up this cold brew in a way I wouldn’t have thought possible.

I believe this is even sold out until next year, but to be sure hit up @OddlyCorrect for locations that carry this.

This sounds fascinating. Craft coffee and beer are my two passions, so this kind of thing is right up my alley! Maybe I can score a bottle next time they release it. I’ll be on the lookout.

    Thanks for the review!
