Cold Brew Coffee Series: Vanilla Nut Concentrate From Kohana Coffee

  • Kohana Coffee

I like to avoid all things flavored when it comes to coffee, but I couldn’t resist trying Kohana’s new shelf stable coffee and a flavored one at that. First up in line from Kohana Coffee is Vanilla Nut Concentrate.

    Thoughts
Three words: After dinner goodness! I broke all the rules in my coffee handbook of things never to add to your coffee. I mixed this up to taste so I can’t give a definitive ratio of concentrate to milk, but it was more concentrate than milk. It was just enough milk to make it slightly creamy, and then I added a touch of plain syrup to sweeten the cup up.

Mixed with a touch of milk and plain syrup, this was the perfect after dinner treat or just when you wanted coffee, but something on the sweeter side.

I also tried the concentrate mixed with water, again, adjusting to taste, and found this to be very nutty with a amaretto like play to it and a touch of lemon-like acidity. If you add a touch of plain syrup or sugar to balance the acidity out, it really becomes delicious.

This lovely, sweet and smooth flavored coffee concentrate is perfect for a midafternoon treat or after dinner delight. ~ Kohana Coffee

    Verdict
This concentrate didn’t stick around long to see just how “shelf stable” it actually was, but I’d hope that you wouldn’t let this sit in your fridge for months.

Overall, very smooth and delicious for a flavored concentrate.
