Colombia Platos Fuertes De Huila Microlot Home Roast Thoughts

  • When I last checked in I had just roasted two batches of coffee. The first roast didn’t look so promising, but the second really did. I’ve been drinking the second batch of coffee now and I’m starting to like it for my attempt at home roasting. Granted, it’s not near as good as anything I’ve bought, but that’s going to be expected since roasters have had years and years of experience.

By the way this coffee is called Colombia “Platos Fuertes de Huila” Microlot which I got from Sweet Maria’s.

Anyways, the aroma smells wonderful. It’s nothing distinct that I can tell, but it just has a nice inviting smell to it. As for taste, it has a nice full body to it. A clean, and bright flavor to it as well. I like how the coffee doesn’t feel heavy or linger around in your mouth.

Just now looking at the packaging I am told it’s a

City to City +. A beautifully light, clean, elegant cup, sweet and lightly fruited, refined sugar, peach, citrus, effervescent brightness, light and transparent mouthfeel.

If I had to rate my own coffee as if it was something I’d bought I’d give it a 3.25 out of 5 cups.

It’s something I would drink again and If I had to drink it because I was short on money I wouldn’t be disappointed.

It’s very cool that you can drink the coffee that your roasted yourself. I really need to get working on that.

It’s so much fun. The coffee I roasted was not bad at all, but it’s got a ways to go.
