Craft Coffee: A Coffee Buffet Delivered Right To Your Door

I’ve been excited about Craft Coffee and their mission since the moment I heard the announcement. Before I dive into their coffee and all that, let me take a moment to enlighten you on who they are and what they’re about.Michael Horn is the founder behind Craft Coffee and is run by coffee lovers based out of Brooklyn, New York. Their mission? To bring coffee lovers out there new coffees every month or as they put it:
exciting coffee experiences every month.
Each month, a box totaling 12oz of beans from three different roasters is sent to your door. Subscriptions start as low as $18.89 and are shipped on the 15th of every month. If you are new to the coffee world this is a great way to start out. These guys are working hard to bring you great roasters, and even better, great coffee to your door.
I am sure there is some concern that Craft Coffee is like other subscription services such as GoCoffeeGo.com/108.html or ROASTe.com, but in reality they are totally different. Craft Coffee offers you three 4oz samples from three different roasters where GoCoffeeGo or ROASTe does not. Craft Coffee appeals to the consumers who want to try new coffees, but don’t want to be burdened with a pound of coffee that they end up hating. It’s a win win situation.
Craft Coffee is a coffee buffet delivered right to your door. They send you top quality coffee so you can taste and pick which coffees you like and don’t like. When you’re done if you want to order more from the roaster you like it’s an easy process.
So, let’s see what kind of roasters they brought to the first tasting box.

It was quite exciting to open the box to find coffee from three roasters I have yet to try coffee from. This was going to be a great experience.Chalalacktu, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia from Coava Coffee Roasters
This was the first coffee I opened up and is said to be
Delicate, almost like Earl Gray tea, while notes of lemon and bergamot linger throughout.
Aroma:
The aroma starts off with a tea like note and moves to hints of honey and lemon. The honey note starts to come through more as the coffee cools.Taste:
Each sip is delicate starting off with an really nice tea note, hints of lemon, and finishes with a sweet honey note which lingers around for a moment. Overall very clean and delicate cup of coffee.Overall, another great Ethiopian coffee to add to my favorites. I’d give this a 4 out of 5 cups.
Caranavi, Bolivia from Gimme! Coffee
Next up, Gimme! Coffee. This was one roaster I don’t know why I’ve never had coffee from, but I was excited now that I had the chance.
This coffee is said to have
Sweet aromatics of almond butter followed by hints of tart cherry. The delicate and soft body of this coffee finishes with notes of dry Riesling.
Aroma:
The aroma is very delicate with hints of fruit that smells like cherries. I also noticed hints of floral and sweet butter coming through.Taste:
I noticed right off how delicate this coffee was. At first, I could taste hints of sweet butter, and a slight tartness. Each sip finished with the same lingering tartness. This was a really good coffee, but it wasn’t my favorite of the three.
Overall, I’d give this a 3.75 out of 5 cups.
Las Mercedes, Herrera, Tolima, Colombia from MadCap Coffee Company
Last up, MadCap Coffee Company. I was really excited for this one. After having a cup of this I knew I was in love. This was definitely my favorite of them all.
This coffee is said to have a
Beautiful fragrance of topical fruit with a tart finish that sweetens to bittersweet chocolate as it cools
I found that this coffee tastes exactly like the description.
Aroma:
The aroma of the coffee starts off with a tart fruitiness. Smells kind of like tart cherries. I also detect some floral play as well.Taste:
The best part about this coffee is the first sip. The coffee invites you in with a tart fruitiness and slowly sweetens up with a bittersweet chocolate that lingers into the aftertaste. Each sip is just as delicious and tart as the last.
I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.
