Dear Handsome Coffee Roasters, I Love You

  • Siberia Estate

Its been a crazy last few weeks for me between moving into my house and having trouble finding my creative side. Things were looking down until Mike Hudson from Handsome Coffee Roasters emailed me to let me know that they had a limited amount of their coffee over at BaristaLab. I had emailed him weeks earlier trying to score some of their coffee and I finally had the chance to get my hands on some. I quickly headed over to the site like a crazy person and before I knew it I had some Santa Ana, El Salvador Siberia Estate heading in my direction.

My lack of creativity hasn’t stopped me from trying to stay productive though. I’ve been working on evolving my taste buds as best as I can so I can better taste and experience the coffees that I drink. My taste buds aren’t advanced by any means, but I do just fine when it comes to coffees.

Sometimes I can’t always decipher what I am tasting in a coffee, but not because of lack of experience, and it’s not always a bad thing either. Siberia Estate is a great example of a coffee that I couldn’t decipher all the way, but I found a way to love it anyways.

Siberia Estate carries a bright and juicy aroma that you can’t turn your head from. Each sip is light with a crisp feeling on your tongue, and boasts a juiciness that I can only describe as tasting a rainbow if a rainbow could be tasted. Guess that would only happen in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory huh? There is a lot going on in this coffee, and its just really delicious.

A user on Twitter I follow @PaulCoffeeFreak, explained this coffee as tasting like

Rainbows, unicorns, and Cheetara from Thundercats.

Sometimes you just can’t find any other way to describe a coffee than how @PaulCoffeeFreak explained it.

Handsome’s goal is to provide you with great coffee, not mediocre. Their offering list may be significantly smaller than other roasters out there, but they assure that all coffees will be “stellar.” I’d like to say that they hit their goal head on, but it’s still to early to tell as I need to taste more of their coffee. ;) I do however think this is a fine example of what they are trying to accomplish, and what great coffee should be like.

    I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.

So far, Handsome Coffee Roasters is on a private trial run so you will just have to hold on a bit until they go live.
