El Salvador Finca Alaska From Social Coffee & Tea Co Review

  • Thank you to Social Coffee & Tea for sending me some coffee to review. This one I am reviewing is El Salvador.

I had the honor to try some of their coffee not too long ago through a contest, so when they contacted me to try some of their other coffees I was very happy.

At the SCAA Roaster’s Choice competition this coffee placed 2nd from over hundreds of coffees submitted by top roasters around the world. Not only did it place 2nd, but this coffee is from the same lot and roast profile that was used in the competition.

El Salvador Finca Alaska has notes of

sweet berries, fruity, chocolate, silky smooth, lingering aftertaste.

    On to my thoughts.

From the aroma there’s a definite fruity-sweetness to it with a blueberry note.

There’s a sweetness that comes at you and then it explodes into this lingering blueberry note. Like a piece of candy that has a liquid center.

The coffee is smooth and very fruity like. The only fruity note I am able to decipher is the blueberry in it, but I am not complaining.

As the coffee cools I taste this floral like note. Reminds me of lavender. Yes, I am getting a lavender play in this coffee now.

There’s a fruity aftertaste with a dryness on my tongue with this lavender sprouting up at me.

Overall, I’d give this coffee a 4.25 out of 5 cups.
