Ethiopia Amaro Gayo Organic Home Roast Thoughts

  • I’ve been wanting to grab some Ethiopia Amaro Gayo to roast up for quite some time now. Well, I finally got some green beans from a reputable company, and got roasting.

I tried going for a City/City+ roast, but after letting the coffee rest, I am thinking 30 or so seconds less would have been better. It’s a little darker than I wanted it to be.

I really could not to wait to dive into this, but I made myself wait a few days to let the flavors develop.

    Here’s what I thought:

The aroma has sweet and lush berry note reminding me of a sweet jelly.

The sweet and lush berry note comes into the cup, and is the first thing you notice. The coffee has a heavier body to it, and has a decent amount of acidity.

I noticed a chocolate note underneath, and also carrying through into the aftertaste.

Overall, I want to roast a little lighter and see if I can bring out more of the sweet fruity notes, but if not this coffee does not disappoint. It was a coffee worth waking up to.
