Ethiopia Horse Harrar From Java Dawg Coffee

  • Java Dawg was very gracious with supplying me with some Ethiopia Horse Harrar to try out.

I love Ethiopian coffees so when Chris “Big Dawg” gave me this to try out I was very excited. Although, I am not happy to say that it wasn’t like most Ethiopian coffees I’ve had.

The first thing I noticed was that the beans are very oily which indicates a darker roast.

From the aroma, I noticed an earthiness to it, and a chocolate note underneath that. The bright fruitiness that I was hoping for was not there.

In each sip, I noticed a very pronounced smokiness with a chocolaty/cocoa like pungent note. There were no bright fruity notes.

This coffee is in no way bad whatsoever, but I think that if it was roasted a little lighter it would be awesome.

I’d give this coffee a 3 out of 5 cups.

This coffee will run you $8.50 for a 12oz bag.
