Happy Holiday’s! A Package From One Village Coffee

  • I want to thank everyone at One Village Coffee for sending this out. It was a wonderful surprise when UPS dropped this package off to me. I opened it up to find 3 coffees waiting inside.

The first coffee I ever had from One Village Coffee was their Smart Blend. This coffee was so delicious that it took me no time at all to go through the whole bag.

I was very excited to see what Peru Cepicafe, Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, and House Reserve all had to offer.

    Peru Cepicafe

Smooth and well-balanced with hints of smokiness and black walnuts preceding a sweet vanilla-like finish. This is a coffee to be savored and will remain sweet on your palette long after your now sad mug is left empty and alone.

This cup starts of mellow with a sweet vanilla in the aroma. It smells like there’s a hint of nuttiness in there. I am also detecting what I smell to be a raspberry note or some form of berry note coming at me.

The first sip is sweet, nutty, and intense. This coffee carries a very sweet note with hints of vanilla, and a very distinct and powerful walnut note.

After each sip, a lingering sweetness is left.

Overall, a very decent cup of coffee, but the nuttiness was a little much for me.

    I’d give this a 4 out of 5 cups.

    Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

Bright, flowery, aromatic. Sounds more like a meadow on a sunny day than what you would traditionally think of as coffee, but this one has it all and more.

The aroma is bright carrying a citrus play, floral notes, hints of blueberries, peach, and a hint of chocolate.

The aroma just keeps giving and giving.

The first sip brought back some memories of when I started my adventures into the coffee world. I’ve tried quite a few Ethiopia Yirgacheffe coffee’s over the past year, and it’s definitely one of my favorites, keeping a place in my heart.

With each sip I was greeted with a very pleasing citrus note. After that, I detected slight hints of a floral note, and a lingering chocolate note. The chocolate note carries into the aftertaste, and even as the coffee cools down. For just a moment I was starting to get a tea like quality to this coffee, but that changed.

As the coffee cools, the other notes have started to mellow down, but the chocolate note stays strong making this an unforgettable cup of coffee.

Overall, yummy. This is definitely the best Yirgacheffe I have had in a while.

    I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.

    House Reserve

This blend consists of beans from Central America and Africa.

The dominant flavors in the cup are a raspberry and citrus fruitiness with herbal notes. There is just a touch of honey sweetness with a hint of melon in the finish that lingers on your palette.

The aroma is on the mellower side carrying a honey sweetness and what smells like a berry note. I am starting to notice underlying chocolate and citrus notes coming through. As I am sniffing the aroma, a very distinct raspberry and chocolate note hit me.

I am starting to understand why this coffee had to be brought in as one of the main offerings instead of a seasonal one.

The first sip brought a wave of raspberry and chocolate notes. It reminds me of a raspberry chocolate bar. This coffee carries a decent amount of acidity with the sweetness of honey behind it.

Overall, very good. The raspberry and chocolate notes really shine in the coffee making this one sweet cup.

    I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.

Again, thank you everyone from One Village Coffee. You all rock! If you haven’t tried their coffee yet then do it soon.

They all sound good, but I’d love to try the Yirg.
