In My Absence… A Bit Of An Update Part 2

  • I figured I’d resurface from the rock I’ve been hiding under and give out another update. I am still sick. Still not feeling any worse than my last update, but still sick nonetheless. I feel like I have the flu, but I am also feeling some cold symptoms as well. Wouldn’t that suck to have a touch of the flu and a cold at the same time?!

    Okay enough of that…

I am swamped in coffee this week. That’s usually not a bad thing, but being sick has my tastebuds and sense of smell as hostages right now. I might actually have to give some coffee away so it doesn’t get stale. I hope that I will somehow pull through and get some reviews done. I’ve got all new roasters in my house that I’ve never tried before… Blue Bottle Coffee, Par-en-the-sis Coffee Roasters, and Olympia Coffee Roasters.

They taste so yummy too from what sense of taste I have left. Must get better ASAP!

Before I got sick I was and still am playing around with ratios and working at dialing in each coffee at the moment. This should be an every day thing when a new coffee arrives, but I’ve been neglecting experimenting too much these past few weeks. Overall, I’ve have decent cups of coffee, but I know in the back of my mind I can always make them better.

I have a sweet little app on my iPhone called MojoToGo and have been using the Coffee Lite program on it to help guide me when making coffee. I’ve been experimenting with some new ratios and have been enjoying the outcome quite a bit. My old bean to water ratios are now becoming not so appealing as I’ve lightened them down to better suit my ever-growing tastebuds.

The point is, I am hoping to start posting some ratio posts for the brew method I’m brewing with at the time. I’d like to get to a point where I’m consistently sharing ratios and thoughts for a given brew method. I haven’t quite figured out the details of how I’ll go about this, but I feel like it would bring more discussions on here. Just like the discussions that happen on Twitter, but with more than 140 characters in it.

I’ve got some new ideas for the site and some changes I’d like to make as well but I won’t divulge into that too much. I’d like to keep them a secret for now. I don’t want to say something and not make it happen.

Having said that, if you see it getting a little dusty around here, fear not for I am still alive and will check in here and there with some updates.
