Jamaican Blue Mountain From Sarasota Bay Roasting Company Review

  • Sarasota Bay Roasting Company is a Local Cafe in my town that I was not aware of until recently. It’s one of those places that’s hidden away and it’s probably a good thing. Hey, if you find a good coffee place you know there is a part of you that wants to keep the place all to yourself and the other half of you wants to tell the whole world. Don’t say you never thought it.

Sarasota Bay Coffee Roasters is run by co-founders Chris Porch, and Andrew Davids. Chris and Andrew believe in providing their customers with a level of freshness that is unsurpassed.

Okay, you know they’ve got their hearts and soul into this when they go above and beyond to make your coffee extraordinary.

I ordered some Jamaican Blue Mountain to test out. I am just a sucker for expensive coffee. What can I say? I’ve got expensive taste buds.

The beans carried a pleasing fruity sweetness when I opened the bag. After brewing, I noticed the aroma has a nice brightness to it with some sweet fruity notes. It smells like this will be a coffee on the brighter side.

The taste is pretty darn good. At first, I wasn’t sure because each sip greets you with a bang of acidity, but it’s quite refreshing. After the bang of acidity, your tongue gets this tingling like sensation. Kind of like a spice note. After that, I notice some fruity notes, but I can’t pinpoint them out. There’s also a bit of a lingering nuttiness. The coffee carries an overall smooth velvety body.

Overall, I am very impressed with this coffee and I can’t wait to get back down there and try their other offerings.

    I’m giving this a 3.75 out of 5 cups.

If you live near the Sarasota area I highly recommend you stop in and give them a try. They are located at 7650 S Tamiami Trl Unit 3.

This coffee will run you $54.99 a lb. but it’s Jamaican Blue Mountain were talking about here. Go grab some.

Pamela – Whoops. Sorry about that. Adding now.

From your review I thought you would go a little higher on the scoring. The price point per pound seems pretty steep to justify purchasing some with a 3.75 score. Do they sell it by the cup?

  • Jamie

Jason – I see what you mean. Didn’t mean to make that confusing. I will see about rewording the review a bit. Thanks.

I don’t know if they sell by the cup or not. I will check next time I am down there.

I’ve been by there probably a dozen times, never noticed it before. I’ll have to stop there next time that I’m in town.
