King Kopi Klukwack EXP 1 From Coffee_Couple Review

  • If you aren’t familiar with @Coffee_Couple on Twitter aka Joe & Monica Brand, than you are missing out on some great coffee conversations.

Joe is coming into the coffee world ready to sell some coffee, but PAN roasting style. He sent me a sample of King Kopi Klukwack EXP 1 with my coffee order.

When I asked Joe about King Kopi Klukwack EXP 1, he responded with “It’s my chicken blend.” I am not going to lie here, I think I became more scared after hearing that. Have no fear… After getting picked on by Joe Brand and Jason Ferris from PressoUSA I can safely say no chickens were involved. Yeah, I believed it for a moment.

After brewing some up, I was immediately hit with an interesting smell. This was something I’ve never quite smelt before.

The aroma definitely carries a chocolaty note to it, but there’s like a nutty or earthy or mix of both coming up under my nose. The aroma is very heavy like a lot of earthy coffees are. This is odd, and it has my attention.

I really don’t know how describe the taste. There are some definite chocolate notes, but the rest has me tongue tied on words. Maybe some nuttiness, or earthiness.

After I jotted some notes down about this coffee, Joe emailed me to tell me that the name of this blend is named after his rooster “King,” and that the origin used in this shall remain a mystery for now.

I’ve never had coffee that smelt like this before, and probably not as odd as this one, but it was very exciting to try Joe’s PAN Roasted goodness.

Overall, this was a great experience as well as a great coffee.

    I’d give this a 3.75 out of 5 cups.

Currently, you can go to their website here and contact Joe through the Contact Page or DM him on Twitter to order some PAN roasted coffee.
