Monkey Paws Coffee Shop Impressions & Review

  • I can’t give too in depth of a review since it was Monday that I had the coffee, but I will say that the coffee was nothing like I had expected.

It’s imported Hawaiian Isles Kona Coffee from Hawaii. Not sure how the coffee was brewed, or even how long it was sitting there, but I can say that the coffee was terrible. It had a slightly burnt flavor with a distinct bitterness.

There was only one customer when I came in so I am not too sure how they are doing business wise, but I would love to come back when they first open to insure getting fresh coffee to see if maybe the coffee was just stale. I don’t want to write this place of just yet without trying to give the place the benefit of the doubt.

Although the coffee was bad, the store itself was nice looking. They had a nice T.V., leather couches, and bars stools and tables to sit at. Behind the counter looked like a kitchen with cupboards, espresso machines, and the people working there were very very friendly also which I really liked.

At $2.49 for a large coffee seemed kind of cheap for Hawaiian Kona coffee. I would have thought it would have been a little more expensive, but maybe that’s just me. One good thing I got out of this experience though was a great mug. And boy do I love my coffee mugs.

Overall, I’d have to give the coffee a 2 out of 5 cups. If I had to drink it again it would be something I could tolerate.

That one has been on my list to try out for a while, but I don’t get down Sarasota nearly as often as I used to.

I will try going back there when it opens soon and hopefully it will be a much better experience.
