Organic Bali Blue Moon Home Roast Thoughts

The first time I had Bali Blue Moon was from Buddy Brew Coffee. I don’t know what about this coffee that struck me. Maybe it was the name or the notes that they described in the coffee, but it was a coffee I wanted to enjoy again.I decided that I wanted to find some good Bali Blue Moon to roast up for myself. After finding some online, I waited for it to arrive.
I was excited to roast it. After some debate, I ended up roasting this to a Full City Roast. When the beans came out of the Behmor, they were a nice brown color, and had quite a bit of oil on them. I wouldn’t call this a dark roast, but I was starting to worry that I may have roasted them a little too long.
When I finally brewed some of it up, I noticed an earthiness coming from the kitchen. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be as good as what Buddy Brew Coffee offers, but I couldn’t let my opinions decide just yet.
The aroma carries a pleasing earthiness. Behind the earthy note lies a chocolaty aroma. I was waiting to see when the chocolate note would appear, and was glad it did.
The coffee had cooled enough for me to take a nice big sip. A chocolate note covered my tongue, and some earthiness mixed right in. I even taste a bit of a smokiness play that lingers on my tongue for a moment.
Overall, this coffee is very good, but I was hoping to get more notes out of it than I did. I might have to try roasting some more of this, and tone down the roasting to a minute or so less.
