Queen Kong Nyeri AA From Rocketfuel Coffee Review

Lisa from Rocketfuel Coffee has been on a roll this new year bringing some new coffees to the table. The newly reworked XXX Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Hawaiian Kona Dark, Global Warming, and now Queen Kong Nyeri AA.Queen Kong Nyeri AA is said to have notes of
concord grape, peppery spice, winey notes, hints of pear, and strawberry, lush fruited sweetness, Early Gray tea, and black cherry syrup.
No one said that this wasn’t going to be a complex cup of coffee.
The aroma of the beans have an earthy type of smell to them, with a definite sweetness, and bright fruitiness. Kind of reminds me of Columbia Diamante Micro Lot from Paradise Roasters I reviewed, but a lot sweeter smelling and more mellow.
While sniffing the coffee I started to get that peppery smell with a little bit of sweetness to it. The winey flavor started emerging as the coffee cooled a little more, and I also started to notice another scent that I can’t seem to place my finger on. It has a light and sweet fruitiness to it.
The immediate taste was that sweet and fruity note that I was smelling, which could possibly be the pear note. There’s a noticeable tea like and winey flavor coming at me with a bit of spice. I also got a citrusy flavor in the cup as well.
I am impressed by this coffee. Each cup of this was just as good as the one before if not better. The coffee was very clean. There was no weight on my tongue as some coffees seem to have that effect. It was just an over all very smooth and very good tasting coffee with lots of flavor.
I’d have to give this a 4.25 out of 5 mugs.
You can grab a half pound of this coffee for $20 plus shipping or one pound for $36 plus shipping.
