Review: Arabian Mocha Java From Equator Coffees & Teas

  • Arabian Mocha Java

When it comes to coffee, you come to find out what you like and you know what you don’t like, so its no surprise you always end up buying the coffee you know you’ll like.

This year I made a resolution to step outside my comfort zone. I made a resolution to try more dark roasts, more earthy, smoky, and musty coffees that I am usually not a big fan of.

This weeks coffee involved that new year’s resolution when I placed an order on GoCoffeeGo.com/108.html

I’ve been wanting to order from Equator Coffees & Teas for quite some time… I mean quite some time, but you know how it goes when you coffee list is already pages long.

When I saw a member’s pick coffee called Arabian Mocha Java I realized it was perfect.

Arabian Mocha Java is a medium-dark roast that combines

rare heirloom coffees from the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, Indonesia and South America. A layering of complex flavors of aged wood, fruit, bittersweet chocolate and spice.

When the coffee arrived I immediately started to rethink my resolution.

It wasn’t until I poured the coffee in my cup that all my previous opinions slowly changed. Sure, a bit of earthy mustiness came through in the aroma, but there was a bittersweet chocolate note starting to dominate my nose along with hints of spice.

It took me a few sips, but this coffee grew on me fast. Each sip starts off with a bittersweet chocolate and small hints of acidity. After that you can detect ever so slight hints of wood, and an earthiness. When the coffee cools it gets even better. A fruitiness that tastes like dates or figs comes out and mixes around with that bittersweet chocolate.

At the end of each sip you can detect small hints of a smokiness, but overall this coffee leaves a very clean aftertaste.

I’d have to give this a 4.25 out of 5 cups.

You can grab a 1lb. of this for $14.25 plus shipping.

QOTD: Do you plan to step outside your coffee comfort zone this year?
