Review: Bahia Emerald From Boyd’s Coffee

  • Boyd's Coffee

It’s the morning. You are sitting in your usual spot drinking your morning coffee. Your eyes are still half shut, but slowly they come to life with each sip of that hot cup of joe. After a few more sips your eyes spring open and you look down at that coffee so hard it’s like you are expecting it to talk.

You had an epiphany, or something like that.

The coffee you are drinking is mellow, and not something that would normally fit to your liking, but the coffee grabbed you and pulled you in.

You want to sip slowly, but you can’t help charging through it so you can grab another cup. It’s that good.

It makes you realize that it’s not about how many notes a coffee carries, but that one note that pulls you in and never let’s you go. It’s about the flavor in the coffee that stirs up your head in ideas. It’s about that one smell that brings back those memories you had once forgotten.

It’s about the surprises a simple cup of coffee can bring.

A cup of Bahia Emerald, a Roastmaster’s Cup from Boyd’s Coffee sprung me out of a sleepy state and hit me with more ideas than my fingers could keep up with.

Bahia Emerald is a blend of beans from Panama and Brazil and is

A light-roast coffee with an inviting toffee nose, rewarding the palate with a sweet terroir and a gentle buttery finish.

This coffee is very light, but not enough so that you can’t taste the coffees hidden flavors. Try and imagine a mix of citrus, toffee, and sweet butter… That’s the aroma. It’s different, but it grabs you and holds you tight.

A sweet nuttiness is the first thing that hits your tongue, and after that a toffee like note springs out with citrus by its side. At times, I’ve even gotten hints of raspberry or grape. I can’t figure out which one it is.

I’ve been trying to find why I like this coffee so much. It’s so simple, and light. Instead of trying to find why I like it so much, I just decided to enjoy it instead.

Overall, I’d probably give this a 4.25 out of 5 cups.

This coffee will run you $14.00 plus shipping for an 8oz Bag.
