Sweet and floral aroma. Each sip starts off very sweet. Underneath notes of apple and delicate flowers can be found. Cup finishes of with a very odd, but pleasing hint of tobacco.Overall clean cup of coffee with hints of crisp acidity and a sweetness that lasts well after each sip.
Sweet above all else, exceptionally clean, crisp in the forward acidity but very mellow and balanced overall given the processing method. Almost effervescent. Easy and pretty. My best cups have cooled to reveal some juicy layers. ~ Via Tony @ Tonx Coffee
Verdict:
I’ve never really liked coffee from the Costa Rican region which is something I don’t think I’ve mentioned before. I haven’t written off Costa Rican coffees totally, but I am very hesitant to try a coffee from that region because of past experiences. It seems that every Costa Rican coffee I’ve had in the past has been overly bright and unpleasant.I was in for a surprise when one of my subscription boxes from Tonx came with a Costa Rican coffee inside. It was time to let past experiences be just past experiences and let those bad feelings go.
This Costa Rica carried a big, but wonderful sweetness which surprised me. I never had a Costa Rica that boasted this much sweetness. Also, the tobacco note in the finish was totally unexpected. It isn’t a heavy tobacco taste, but it’s just heavy enough to notice and distinguish what it is. Definitely throws you for a spin when you least expect it.
