Review: Dominican Republic From Peace Coffee

I think I’ve expressed my love for Peace Coffee enough on here so I’ll spare you all from another speech. Basically, Peace Coffee = Awesome. Okay, now that I got that out of the way let’s get down to it.This week I was running low on coffee and decided it was time to order up before I forgot to yet again. After a hard time deciding what to order, I figured I would check out Peace Coffee’s Dominican Republic.
Dominican Republic is said to be
A rich coffee with a creamy body, heavy sweetness, milk chocolate and nutty undertones, and a brisk yet lingering, finish.
When the coffee arrived I opened it to find a medium roast coffee that carried a peanut butter nuttiness and a sweet chocolate coming from the bag. I dove into this coffee by making a nice tall glass of cold brew first. After brewing I was completely blown away by what happened after taking the first sip.
Dominican Republic screamed of chocolate, citrus, spice, a sugary sweetness, and a peanut butter like nuttiness. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, the sweetness grew stronger with each sip reminding me of a sweet dessert like doughnuts or cake.
As an iced coffee it’s almost like a fine wine or scotch. All you want to do is sip on it slowly and hope it never runs out.
I was more than impressed by what this coffee had to offer as a cold brew that I couldn’t wait to see how it stood up hot. Unfortunately, I had to wait until the next morning to find out since I already had more coffee in my system between two helpings of Coffee Beef Stew and more brewed coffee than I could count.
The next morning I flew out of bed and prepared a nice cup of Dominican Republic using my Hario V60. A few minutes later I sat down at my computer with my coffee and took a big whiff. The aroma only hinted of chocolate and a sweet nuttiness. The first few sips were beginning to bum me out as it wasn’t shinning as bright as the cold brew. As a hot brew, the coffee did however carry a beautiful deep chocolate note, with hints of spice, and a lingering nuttiness.
Overall, Dominican Republic was good hot, but I just felt like it wasn’t the best that it could be so the next day after having some morning cold brew I went back to the kitchen and made another attempt.
Within a few minutes I started to notice something…
Dominican Republic was starting to shine. I started to notice a fruity note coming from the cup which smelt like oranges and the first sip carried a heavy body and then notes of sweet chocolate, citrus, spice, a lingering nuttiness, and a sugary sweetness emerged.
Every once in awhile we all make a bad cup of coffee, and I was very happy to find that it was my fault and not just a mediocre coffee in my kitchen.
Once again Peace Coffee has wowed me with another great coffee.
I’d give this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.
