Review: El Salvador Finca Monte Rey Bambu From Tonx Coffee
-

The CoffeeI was lucky enough to try the very first subscription offering from Tonx Coffee, Guatemala Antigua Finca La Folie when they went live with a batch of left-overs for the non-subscribers.
Now, if you are not a subscriber you can do so by heading to tonx.org which is highly recommended, but if you just want to take your chances you can just wait to see what left-overs go live on the site.
I’m not one for being tied down to subscriptions even when it comes to coffee, but after trying a few of Tonx’s coffees I immediately signed up for their coffee subscription. For $35 a month you will receive a 12oz bag of coffee every two weeks, sweet offers for members only, and if you aren’t satisifed by all that, Tonx will refund your money with no questions asked.
Okay, I feel like an infomercial now, but seriously, this is a really good deal.
Let’s move onto the coffee now…
Beans: El Salvador Finca Monte Rey Bambu
Roaster: Tonx CoffeeEquipment/Brewing Method
Brew Method: Aeropress
Grinder/Grind Size: Baratza Virtuoso Preciso – Dial 26
Bean/Water Ratio: 15/220g 1minute steep & 30second drainNotes:
Sweet chocolate, syrupy aroma with hints of dried cherries. Each sip starts with a caramel like sweetness then moves onto chocolate and dried fruit. Light acidity with a light, but sweet body. This is the second coffee we have offered from this outstanding farm and another nice exemplar of the sort of straight-shooting, crowd pleasing cup profile we look for from the best Central American coffees. Expect good performance across a wide gamut of brew methods. ~ Tonx Coffee
Verdict:
Fall has started and the cool air has finally come our way. What does that have to do with this coffee? Well, everything. Waking up to cool air, nature, and this coffee makes for the perfect morning, afternoon, and even night.I enjoyed this coffee more than I can put words together to describe this feeling.
For this review I used the Aeropress, but Tonx is right when they said that this coffee preforms well across a wide variety of brew methods. Its solid in the Aeropress, the Clever Dripper, and even iced.
I can’t even think of one coffee I’ve had in the past produced as well as this coffee in a wide variety of brew methods.
