Review: Kenya PB Muthunzuuni Estate From Atomic Cafe

  • Atomic Cafe

Kenyan coffee reminds me of Ethiopian coffee. Like Ethiopian coffee, Kenyan coffee seems to always bring something great to the table. I can’t remember a time where I wasn’t impressed. Coffee prices may be rising, we may be feeling the hurt, but I’ve got a good feeling this will be a great year for Kenya.

I wanted another Kenya fix after having Kenya Kiandu from Ritual Roasters. The Kenya Kiandu opened my eyes to what I was missing and I couldn’t stop thinking about having another cup of Kenya, any Kenya, and soon. I ended up on Atomic Cafe’s site ordering up some of their Kenya PB Muthunzuuni Estate.

Kenya PB Muthunzuuni Estate is said to be

A richly fruit toned coffee where cherry and raspberry tones are predominant with crisp citrus and peach tones. With a sweet, pristine clarity, this Kenyan peaberry brews a truly sublime cup.

The words “truly sublime cup” don’t come close to how great this coffee is.

When you open the bag a citrus aroma comes out, but not before a rose-like flower note creates layers and layers of greatness in your nose. It was hard to pull my head out of the bag.

I took this coffee straight to the Hario and brewed a nice juicy cup. Every step of making this coffee made my mouth water and water until I thought I was going to drool onto the table.

When the coffee was done an aroma of cherries, hints of vanilla, crisp citrus, dried raisin, and roses flew out like a hurricane. It was just one note after another.

When it came to the first sip I was even more impressed. Cherries hit my tongue, and a crisp citrus wave was next. After that it got serious. Peaches, honey, roses, and chocolate hit me at once. My tongue couldn’t keep up with it all.

This coffee received 95pts from Coffee Review and I definitely agree. Every bit of this coffee was delicious, but I think the rose-like note really did it in for me. I was not expecting this to be in this coffee, but I was quite intrigued by it.

Overall, I’m giving this a 4.75 out of 5 cups.

Thanks Atomic Cafe for rocking my world with this Kenya.

At $13.95 for 12oz it’s a steal of a deal that you should not pass up on.
