    The Coffee

I just want to give a quick thanks for everyone at BeanFruit for letting me have this opportunity to try some of their coffee.

I was excited to dive into this and see what it would bring to the table. I’ve had a few Nicaragua’s here and there. Its definitely a coffee region I need to sink my palate into more often.

Beans: Nicaragua Jinotega Finca Los Papales
    Roaster: BeanFruit Coffee

    Equipment/Brewing Method

    Brew Method: Aeropress
Grinder/Grind Size: Baratza Virtuoso Preciso – Dial 26
    Bean/Water Ratio: 15/220g

    Notes:
Very chocolaty throughout the cup with fruity accents, slight acidity, spice, and a hint of nuttiness. Long lasting chocolate finish as well.

Screams sweet chocolate as an iced brew.

Dark chocolate introduces the cup with notes of spice & grapefruit that gradually appear during its long lasting finish. ~ BeanFruit Coffee

    Verdict:
This coffee is on the darker side, but it definitely doesn’t taste like it is. This Nicaragua is sweet with a chocolate note that just lingers and lingers with deliciousness.

In the beginning I thought this may need a lighter roast because you start to destroy a lot of the notes by roasting darker, but after a few cups and various methods I realized that this coffee really doesn’t need a lighter roast. It’s pretty much perfect the way it is.

Seriously, brew this hot or cold and you will find a wonderful cup of coffee. This is especially a great coffee for those who really just like simple coffees.

    Score:
    90/100pts

Hey Jamie – I’m a big fan of BeanFruit. All of their roasts are amazing. I liked your post, but I wonder what a 95 or 100 would taste like? I can’t imagine coffee better than BeanFruit. Thanks

      Joe,

If you look to the right of the site you can click on the “4.5 out of 5, and 4.75 out of 5 cups” tags. Those are the highest rated coffees I’ve reviewed. Maybe that will give you a better idea of what coffees I rate above 95 for my taste buds.

It always comes down to personal taste though. To you this Nicaragua is a 95pt coffee, but to me I felt 90pts was right for this coffee.

      Hope that helps.
