Review: Sweet Yellow Brazil From The Coffee Couple

    The Coffee

    Beans: Sweet Yellow Brazil
    Roaster: The Coffee Couple

    Equipment/Brewing Method

    Brew Method: Clever Dripper
Grinder/Grind Size: Baratza Virtuoso Preciso – Dial 22
    Bean/Water Ratio: 22/350g 1:30 steep / 1min drop

    Notes:
Heavy chocolate takes the lead with spice and a hint of smokiness trailing behind. Taking in the aroma a little more, a fruit play starts to emerge reminding me of fruity pebbles.

A heavy chocolate coats your tongue upon first sip. It’s a heavy bodied coffee with chocolate, a side of spice, and a light lingering smoky play. A few more sips in and the chocolate and spice play seem to merge together creating a pleasing experience.

    Verdict:
When I opened the bag I saw slight speckles of oil on the beans which concerned me just a little. Overall, the beans looked like a medium roast and carried a seemingly even color which surprised me as PAN roasting (skillet coffee roasting) usually carries some unevenness with the beans.

I was surprised again by the taste which carried a heavy body and an intensity of spice, smokiness, and a chocolate play, but overall loved this coffee nonetheless.

    Score:
    87/100pts
