Steak & Chicken In Coffee Recipe

I have a thing for steak and coffee. It’s liked Peanut Butter and Jelly, they just belong together. If you’ve followed my last two steak recipes found here, and here, ignore them.I want to thank Mike (DailyShotOfCoffee) for his Caramelized Coffee Chicken recipe. I used this recipe, but modified it as followed:
*Note: These are for one piece of steak and chicken each*
Steak Ingredients:
1-2 cups of strong brewed coffee. (I used a store bought Peet’s French Roast)
1 teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
A pinch of Mace
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
1/4 cup of diced onions
Mix all ingredients in bag and let marinate for at least 1 hour and then cook.Chicken Ingredients:
1-2 cups of strong brewed coffee. (I used store bought Peet’s French Roast)
1 teaspoon of salt
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/4 cup of honey
Add a pinch of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
1/4 cup of diced onions
Mix all ingredients in bag and let marinate for at least 1 hour and then cook.I modified Mike’s recipe down quite a bit, but the end result was amazing.
The steak carried a smoky goodness from the coffee I used. You could definitely taste the coffee, but it tasted so much better using brewed than covering the steak in coffee grounds. The brown sugar was a nice touch to the steak. Overall, this was better than any steak and coffee recipe I’ve made. The ingredients went well together which really made the steak stand out.
The chicken was probably my favorite. I decided to give the chicken a little more sweetness by adding some honey and a touch of cinnamon. You could taste the smokiness from the coffee like in the steak, but the honey and cinnamon came out and gave it a balanced sweetness. It was the perfect combination of goodness.
Overall, this is a winner in my book. Both recipes are delicious and the cool part is you can adjust them to your liking. Go ahead and get cooking now.
