Sumatra Bodhi Leaf From Klatch Coffee Review

  • The last coffee I ordered from Klatch was “Esmeralda Special Mario Pascu“ which was amazing from the odd, but wonderful aroma of the beans to the aroma and taste of the coffee itself.

I decided that I wanted to order more coffee from Klatch so I looked to see what sounded good from GoCoffeeGo.

After looking around I stumbled on Sumatra Bodhi Leaf with flavors of

creamy vanilla, tropical fruits, and garden greens.

After receiving the coffee and seeing that it said garden greens I quickly became worried. I will admit the first cup of coffee I made of this was horrible. The “garden greens” overwhelmed my nostrils and the taste was unbearably disgusting.

Now, I am not here to bash Klatch coffee in any way so I had to give this coffee another round if not three.

I was much happier in the results of my second cup.

The aroma of the beans had reminded me of the “Esmeralda Special Mario Pascu“. With a slight aroma of pizza goldfish again, but with a musty garden type smell in the background.

The aroma of the coffee has a sweet vanilla aroma. The vanilla isn’t so pronounced, but it’s there. I also get a hint of the garden greens in the aroma, but it’s not overpowering. It adds to an interesting mix of aromas.

The first sip had an intense flavor of a citrusy goodness. It’s a nice bright fruity flavor. In the back of the coffee there is that garden green flavor that comes through, but it’s not as pronounced. It’s there, and it’s definitely different, but it’s surprisingly growing on me.

I also noticed maybe a musty earthly like flavor lingering for a second after each sip and then goes away. Maybe part of that garden green note.

Overall the coffee is very clean. It’s not heavy on the tongue. It’s says it’s a medium roast, but I think I’d say this is more of a light-medium roast. The roast seems lighter, but the flavors in this coffee are very bright.

I’d give this coffee a 3.25 out of 5 cups.

You can grab yourself a 12oz bag at GoCoffeeGo for $11.95 plus shipping.
