The Rising Coffee Prices And Its Impact
-

Have your pockets begun to feel the rising coffee prices? Some of you may not have noticed, but some have and are having to cut back on their coffee buying. All that great coffee you enjoy buying every week may becoming a rare treat. How about you? Have the rising prices impacted your coffee buying? The rising coffee prices are nothing new. We’ve been struggling with this issue for months now.
Not only are coffee drinkers who enjoy great coffee feeling the seemingly never ending rise of coffee prices, but we are overlooking the fact that coffee roasters are being affected as well. With the growing prices it may not come as a shock that some roasteries are having to shut down. So far, I can’t think of any roasteries that have had to do so, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened for some.
Some people see the rising coffee prices as a bad thing, yet others are seeing this as gift that coffee farmers are finally starting to get paid the wages that they desperately deserve.
Let’s take a moment here and think back before the rise of coffee prices:
How did you feel? Were you comfortable with the current prices? Were they too low? Maybe too high?
Before the rising coffee prices, I fell victim of enjoying coffee at a cheap rate. I am all for Fair Trade, but most of the time it did not seem like I even cared. I was part of the problem, buying coffee at a cheap rate while these coffee farmers were watching their hard work going down the drain.
Too many times we enjoy coffee that sit easy on our pockets without thinking about the people who grew and nurtured these coffee plants until they were ready to have the cherries hand picked off the trees and processed for our roasting, and consumption pleasures.
As the coffee prices started to rise I became worried about being able to buy my favorite coffees. Would the prices be too high for the coffee to be worth buying?
I know what you’re thinking… If I could travel back in time I’d slap myself in the face so you don’t have to for even thinking that higher prices would affect my coffee buying.
I’d say that the rising coffee prices have been a great wake up call. I was being selfish wanting to only buy coffee that didn’t hurt my pockets, but I was also taking it for granted. Great coffee is worth the higher price.
In the coffee world
… You get what you pay for
So if you want coffee that’s easy on your pockets then you’ll have to settle for a low quality coffee.
I can only say that I feel grateful just to be able to experience the great coffees that are available to us, and I hope you guys out there who find the coffee prices too high to purchase take a step back and just be grateful for the opportunities we have to even be drinking such amazing coffee.
Make sure you enjoy coffee to the fullest. Have a great Sunday folks.
