Ugandan Bugisu From BaristaOnDutY Review

  • The one and only BaristaOnDutY has brought some new coffees into the mix and a new way of roasting. All of his Ethiopian coffees are offered through his new home roaster, as well as two new coffees, a Colombian, and Ugandan Bugisu.

The major change with Johnny Milton aka BaristaOnDutY’s home roaster coffees is that the prices are a little cheaper than his pan roasted coffees.

You can grab two 3oz bags of his home roaster coffees for only $10 plus shipping which isn’t a bad deal.

So, I grabbed myself some Ugandan Bugisu to try out. I wasn’t sure taste wise what to expect with a Ugandan coffee, but I knew it would be great. BaristaOnDutY has never let me down.

When I opened up one of the bags I noticed that the beans were dark and were kind of oily. The smell that the beans gave off was a darker roast aroma.

I could smell the darkness coming from the French Press while brewing. It was a bold and enticing aroma with a smoothness behind it.

The taste was just as I was expecting. Amazing. The first time I made a cup of this, the only word that came out of my mouth was “WOW.” No exaggeration here folks.

I do not like dark roasts at all. The smokiness in coffees always kills it for me, but not this coffee.

This coffee carries a bolder presence. It’s dark, bold, but underneath lies a pinch of sweetness. Once the coffee cooled, I noticed a fruity side appearing, but not much. Just enough to make itself known.

    I’m giving this a 4.5 out of 5 cups.

Darker roasts may have less caffeine, but I wish to wake up to this coffee every morning. The taste alone will wake you up.

Go grab yourself some of this now. You won’t regret it.
