Yellow Caturra Maui Home Roast Thoughts

  • The first time I roasted up some of this Yellow Caturra Maui, I knew I had found something good.

Tearing off the seal from the coffee bag, and opening it up was like heaven. The beans gave off a definite peanut butter aroma, like opening a jar of peanut butter only better. Better yet, like the smell of a butterfinger bar.

The nutty peanut butter aroma carried through the cup along with a fruity, and honey note.

There’s a very good acidity to it to this coffee. I was able to detect notes of orange, honey, a lingering sweetness, and more nuttiness.

This coffee has a very clean aftertaste, leaving you wanting more. The lingering sweetness has a “haunting” effect. Very nice.

There’s a leather note that appears more as the coffee cools and can be detected in the aroma as well. It’s an odd note, but it’s actually quite nice.

This coffee just gets better and better the longer it sits.
