Z-Wrangler From Kicking Horse Coffee Review

  • I was more than ecstatic when I was contacted by Paola Dooly from Kicking Horse Coffee asking me to review one of their coffees. I didn’t know much about the company, but I had been seeing their name popping up from various users on Twitter. I was very excited to see what they had to offer.

    A little history.

Kicking Horse Coffee started with two young entrepreneurs, Elana, and Leo. After many adventures, and just a few years later, Kicking Horse Coffee arrived. What made this company even more interesting is that they started in a garage roasting small batches of coffee, selling whole beans instead of ground, and using state-of-the-art packaging. 11 years later, they now have over 18 employees and occupy a 20,000 square-foot facility.

The coffee they sent me that I am trying is called Z-Wrangler which is a blend of Indonesian and Central American coffee, and is said to be

Sweet and smooth with intense body and brightness

When I opened the can I noticed the beans carried a bold, but sweet like aroma, as well as hints of darkness to them.

The coffee has a sweet and smooth aroma. I had a feeling this was going to be a good coffee.

There’s a definite bold presence to the coffee, but just not intense like they had described. It’s very smooth, and has a nice sweetness balancing the coffee out.

There is a bit of darkness lingering on my tongue. Not like a smokiness. It reminds me more of a dark chocolate note.

Overall, this coffee was very good, and I’d give this a 3.75 out of 5 cups.

You can grab a can of this for $12.29 plus shipping.
